This session has also been used to train Operating Authority staff (providing on-the-job practical training hours).

About the course

This session is tailored to each municipality’s drinking water system(s) and is geared to senior management and members of municipal councils.


Based on the province’s “Taking Care of Your Drinking Water: A Guide for Members of Municipal Councils”, this session will focus on providing system(s)-specific answers to the many questions posed throughout the guide.   

Learning objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to describe the:

  • community's drinking water system, 
  • relevant legislation, regulations, and reporting requirements,
  • different roles and responsibilities of those who have decision-making authority,
  • key drinking water system risks and plans to address these, and
  • emergency response procedures.
